Faith Works

“Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed.Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow…” Isaiah 1:17

Life’s journey of faith, hope, tears and joy

Kiln of faith

We leap, land, fight, and follow the paths of life God has laid … a joyful voyage of unexpected twists and turns. But always, abiding in the shadow of God’s wings; and underneath, are the everlasting arms. I minister at Cornerstone Christian Fellowship and with VERITY CNET to support, teach and enable the church to better prevent and protect victims and survivors of abuse, violence and exploitation.

In this era of unimagined heights of technological advancements, we are also hurtling toward unimagined depths of human misery, depression, isolation, violence and grand failure. Did we really believe we could attain enlightenment without the blueprint of our maker?

webs of love

Always thankful, deeply grateful for those who encircle my life with the priceless webs of their love and lives. Arik, Aloja the Lion, my forever partner of 30 years, the incredible trio plus, Olutale and Connor, Oseoba, and Yolore, and our amazing clan of family and friends.

curvets of life

We teach for social justice & for change that combats ignorance, racism, exploitation and oppression. I teach the politics of memory because the traumas of the past haunts human societies; because the victories of the past are lessons for moving ahead and; because ignorance of the past has been weaponized against the poor; against those who are marginalized but whose labors built the world in which we live.

The silenced political histories of black people and of the Global South must be learned. For their astounding accomplishments in the arts, literature, music, architecture, international commerce, city building, agriculture, technology in the “Third World” have been replaced by a dangerous Eurocentric discourse and imagination that appropriates, stifles and crushes. For many centuries, Europe borrowed from the Middle East, from Asia, and from Africa. True Justice must take off from the truth of the equality of our humanity.

He has shown youO mortal, what is good and what the LORD requires of you. To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

– Micah 6:8

“We are not to simply bandage the wounds of victims beneath the wheels of injustice, we are to drive a spoke into the wheel itself.”

― Dietrich Bonhoeffer
